GATHERING MESSAGE

The air at Carver-Roehl Park still held a touch of winter’s lingering chill yesterday, but beneath our feet and within our circle, there was no mistaking it: Spring has arrived.

We gathered on the center island, chairs tucked into the earth, to celebrate the Equinox and the start of a new spiritual year. Our message for March is "Daring to Bloom: The Courage and Vulnerability to Break Through." We spoke about the seed—how it must surrender its entire identity and crack its shell before it can become what it is designed to be.

Grounding and Wandering

We began with a passage from Wild Rhythms, centering ourselves in the gratitude of the land. Ashley led us through a light body meditation, where we visualized a soft glow moving through us, and connected with a message for the new year.

From there, Sarah guided us into the park to witness the "breakthrough" firsthand. We wandered quietly, spotting the first brave green shoots pushing through the leaf mulch and listening to the return of the birdsong. As we walked, we held a question: What is seeking to break through in you this new year?

Ritual and Intention

When we returned to the circle, we transitioned from observation to action. Using peat pots and marigold seeds harvested from Ashley’s own garden, we joined in a seed planting ritual. We wrote our personal intentions directly onto the pots—intentions of abundance, growth, freedom and good health—and tucked the seeds into the soil.

In circle, we shared our intentions aloud, weaving our individual hopes into the collective energy of the group.

The Blessing of the Breakthrough

To bless our seeds and awaken the "intangible energy of creation," we intoned the Awen together. The sound vibrated through the trees, a blessing for the seed’s journey. We reminded ourselves that the blessing exists in the field regardless of whether the seed sprouts; the act of planting is the sacred part.

We closed our morning with a collective blessing, a reminder to trust the "darkness of the not-yet" and to have the patience to honor the shell as it begins to crack. Before departing, we shared special Spring Tea blends that Ashley mixed for us, and each stamped a heart onto our community canvas, leaving a physical mark of our time together in the park.

SPIRITUAL INVITATION FOR MARCH

Get outside: Get outside each day and bear witness to nature coming alive. Witness the fragile sprouts reaching for the light and meditate on their origins - their journey toward the light. With nature as a mirror and teacher, journal using the reflection questions, or do the “The Breath of the Bija” meditation.

✧ QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION

·       Which old habit or ‘shell’ am I outgrowing? Can I be brave enough to let it break?

·       In the ‘darkness’ of my current challenges, where do I feel the pull toward the light?

·       How can I stop striving and start trusting the nourishment that is already here?
